Pinelopi Moutzouri received a Journal of Magnetic Resonance Young Scientist Award at the recent EUROMAR conference in Warsaw. These awards are given to graduate students or post-doctoral fellows “whose unsolicited submissions for an oral presentation have been selected based on excellence by the EUROMAR scientific program committeeâ€, and come with a cheque for $500.00, a one year electronic subscription to the Journal of Magnetic Resonance, and a certificate. Pinelopi’s lecture dealt with recent work on measuring NMR spectra free of 13C satellites (“Clearing the undergrowth: detection and quantification of low level impurities using 19F NMRâ€, Chem. Comm. 53, 123-125) and ultraclean pure shift NMR methods (“Ultraclean pure shift NMRâ€, Chem. Comm., in press). The meeting, at which Mohammadali Foroozandeh also lectured, was enlivened by briefly sharing a hotel with Donald Trump and his security entourage.
