GNAT - the General NMR Analysis Toolbox

A beta test version of the GNAT, a new software platform for processing and analysis of NMR data, is now available for download at

SMASH poster award

Pinelopi Moutzouri, who won a JMR Young Scientist Award at the EUROMAR conference in Warsaw in July, has added to her successful summer by winning the best poster prize at the recent SMASH conference in Baveno, on Lake Maggiore. Her prize includes a year’s free subscription to the journal Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry. The poster described a new experimental technique that solves a long-standing problem in pure shift NMR, allowing systematic artefacts to be suppressed to arbitrary order without compromising resolution or sensitivity.

Workshop on pure shift NMR

Copies of slides for the talks given at the Workshop on pure shift NMR, Manchester, 12th Sept 2017 can be accessed via this link.

A data archive containing pure shift pulse sequences, processing software and sample experimental data is available for download via this link.

Financial support from the EPSRC is gratefully acknowledged.

GNAT (General NMR Analaysis Toolbox)

The General NMR Analaysis Toolbox (GNAT): a general tool for processing NMR data

Workshop on pure shift NMR

A workshop on pure shift NMR methods will be held at the School of Chemistry, University of Manchester, Manchester UK on Tuesday 12th September. Speakers will include Ralph Adams, Laura Castañar, Mohammadali Foroozandeh, Peter Kiraly, Gareth Morris and Mathias Nilsson.

Further details, and links to downloads, may be found at

Registration closed on Friday 18th August.

JMR Young Scientist Award

Pinelopi Moutzouri received a Journal of Magnetic Resonance Young Scientist Award at the recent EUROMAR conference in Warsaw. These awards are given to graduate students or post-doctoral fellows “whose unsolicited submissions for an oral presentation have been selected based on excellence by the EUROMAR scientific program committee”, and come with a cheque for $500.00, a one year electronic subscription to the Journal of Magnetic Resonance, and a certificate.

James N. Shoolery Award

We are delighted to announce that Gareth has been awarded the James N. Shoolery award for his contributions to small molecule NMR spectroscopy. Gareth will present a his award lecture at the SMASH 2015 NMR conference.

JMR cover for The Varian Story

The Varian Story, a Perspectives article on the decline and fall of the pioneering NMR manufacturer, features on the front cover of volume 250 of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance, January 2015.

New version of the DOSY Toolbox

Version 2.5 of the DOSY Toolbox is now available for download:

New version of pshift au program for Bruker pure shift data

A new version of the pshift reconstruction program for Topspin 2 and Topspin 3 is available.
